Wide Receivers to Trade For

A.J. Green – Cincinnati Bengals

Most Green owners aren’t going to overreact to a single poor week, but I think he will be a top-five fantasy receiver this season and if you can get him for anything less than top-five value, I would do it now. His 63 yards on Sunday may very well be the least he has all season.

Dez Bryant – Dallas Cowboys

I know, I know, he’s supposed to miss 4-6 weeks and he could miss more than that. However, I think he has the talent to be worth keeping on your bench for that time in order to have a huge second half of the season. If you can afford to use a roster spot on him, go out and get Dez and have him on your team for your fantasy playoff run. The closer Bryant gets to returning to the field, the more expensive he will get.

Allen Robinson – Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars offense isn’t going to light anyone up this season, but Allen Robinson is the most talented receiver on the team and he should see some targets and be able to catch more than 1 of them every week. He’s no more than a FLEX play or a WR3 on most fantasy teams, but you may be able to get him for much cheaper.

Brandin Cooks – New Orleans Saints

This is supposed to be Brandin Cooks’ breakout season, and I still have faith despite a disappointing season opener. He caught 4 of 8 targets, and those numbers will go up as the season progresses and the New Orleans offense finds a rhythm.

Wide Receivers to Trade Away

DeAndre Hopkins – Houston Texans

Don’t get me wrong, I think Hopkins will have a huge season as the Texans best receiving weapon this season, and there’s nothing wrong with holding on to him because he will help your time. He won’t be fantasy’s second best receiver like he was this week though. Once Arian Foster returns, there may be games where Bill O’Brien doesn’t let Brian Hoyer or Ryan Mallett throw the football a single time. If you’re looking to trade Hopkins, do it now while his value is high.

James Jones – Green Bay Packers

James Jones may belong on a list of waiver-wire pickups instead of trade targets, but in the event that you had him on your team you may look at getting rid of him early in the season. Touchdown dependent receivers are never reliable, and without his 2 touchdowns Jones would have scored only 5 fantasy points in ESPN standard leagues. Trade him for what you can get before Randall Cobb and Davante Adams take all the targets.

Percy Harvin – Buffalo Bills

Harvin’s injury history makes him so hard to trust for a full season, but his 51 yard touchdown made him a great play in Week 1. I don’t expect him to have any fantasy value for the entire season though, and if you can get anything for him, now would be the time to do it.
