Starting the season 3-0, the Carolina Panthers are clearly ready to make a strong run at the NFC South crown this season. The defense has been great, and Cam Newton looks great as he leads the offense.

If they expect to be legitimate Super Bowl contenders this season, the Panthers need to find more offensive weapons for Newton to work with. Tight end Greg Olsen is great, but he is the only legitimate skill position player on the offensive roster. The wide receiver position is ugly, and Jonathan Stewart cannot seem to get going in the run game.

Ideally, they would look to add at receiver, but landing an impact offensive talent would be a huge move for the Panthers regardless of position. Forte would make a major difference in the Panthers’ offense.

Aside from Olsen, Forte would immediately become the most reliable target in the passing game for Newton. He would also be a major upgrade to Stewart and his 3.5 yards per carry average in the run game. The Panthers’ 3-0 start may not be for real, but if they think this could be their opportunity, Forte is a logical trade target for the team.
