Who needs Brian Dawkins when you have Malcolm Jenkins and Walter Thurmond back at safety?
All jokes aside, Jenkins is playing at an elite level at his safety position along with No. 2 on this list, Walter Thurmond. This has been awesome to watch and no one could have predicted that Jenkins and Thurmond would be playing so well right now. Jenkins did well last year, but not like this.
Jenkins, who has dropped his fair share of interceptions, has made countless plays in the passing game and in the run game. He has been the playmaker the Eagles defense has needed and he has truly embraced the role on the team.
He is currently the No. 1 ranked safety according to Pro Football Focus. Yes, you read that correctly, an Eagles safety is currently ranked #1 out of all the other safeties in the NFL. Like Barwin, Jenkins has been drinking the Chip Kelly Kool-Aid since day one and it has shown. The Eagles players have been feeding off of the spark Jenkins has provided.
Season stats: 41 total tackles, 7 tackles for a loss, 3 pass deflections, 3 forced fumbles, and 1 fumble recovery.
