Goal-Line Stand

The Bills defense came up big to keep it a two-score game by stopping the Jags on the goal line. The Bills offense took the energy from there and picked up a field goal.

If the Jaguars scored there, then the game was likely over, but instead the Bills defense gave some life. For a team’s defense that has struggled most of the season, they showed their potential today despite a sloppy showing by EJ Manuel, which prevented the offense from finding the scoreboard more than they did on Sunday.

As the Bills’ season progresses into the bye week and the rest of their schedule, the goal-line stand film can be used as motivation. The Bills’ defense has the skills to play well as shown against the Jaguars. The Bills defense only gave up three touchdowns and gave the offense multiple chances to provide points despite a rough day.

The game’s momentum really shifted after this play here as the Bills inched their way back into the game little by little, but in the end the offensive turnovers that ended in touchdowns doomed the Bills more than the defense dooming the team. The defense stepped up to keep the Bills in the game, but the offense couldn’t seal the game down the stretch.
