Stefon Diggs had been climbing for two weeks before the game against the Detroit Lions. In Week 7 the Minnesota Vikings rookie really produced, finally getting into the end zone for the purple and gold.
Diggs finished the day with six receptions for 108 yards and the one touchdown. This third consecutive week of production finally cemented him as a reliable receiver for the Vikings. The first two weeks were like a tease, but his third week of high production has really secured his spot as an up-and-comer with the Vikings offense.
That consistency is what has been most impressive for Diggs so far this season. He has been a pleasant surprise and doesn’t seem to be slowing down. As noted by Gilberto Manzano at NFL.com, he has really shone as a starter which is exactly what the Vikings need.
In just his third game, Diggs has already risen to have the most yards on the team (324), the second-highest yards per reception (17.1, just .1 behind Jarius Wright), and is tied for second on the team with his lone touchdown reception. The general lack of production from the other receiving targets has been concerning and Diggs is exactly the solution needed.
While there are still holes in Diggs’ game and mistakes are still made by the rookie fifth-rounder, his stock continues to rise. Week 7 is simply a continuation of his upward trend.
