Running game? We don’t need no stinking running game!
The New England Patriots have perfected situational football and it’s just one reason they’re off to another 6-0 start.
On Sunday in a 30-23 win over the New York Jets, the Pats totaled nine running plays and dropped back to pass 57 times. Quarterback Tom Brady completed 34-of-54 passes for 355 yards and two touchdowns while being sacked only three times. Bill Belichick opted to wear out New York’s top-ranked defense and the plan paid off.
Six games into 2015, Brady has completed 68.9 percent of his passes for 2,054 yards and 16 scores with just one interception. New England is averaging 35.5 points per game and has scored 24 offensive touchdowns while committing only three turnovers.
It’s a short week for the Patriots and Miami Dolphins as the teams play on Thursday. It could also be a long night for the visiting team.
