For years now, the Miami Dolphins continue to have terrible draft classes and still be at the outside looking in within the AFC East. Drafting defensive end Joey Bosa could finally get them back into being contenders again.

The Dolphins for quite some time now have been a disaster of a franchise. Could you believe for the third time now in a decade, they’ve done so poorly during the regular season they have yet another top-ten first-round draft pick?

Due to their efforts in 2015 that saw them end their season at 6-10 and at the bottom of the AFC East, in the 2016 NFL Draft they hold the No. 8 overall pick. They could go a number of different ways here as they have needs on their offensive line, defensive secondary and especially with their pass rush.

It’s true when many proclaim how if you want to win plenty of football games, it’s all about having a stout defense. The Dolphins’ defense has been abysmal and that’s even with last year’s offseason acquisition of Ndamukong Suh who had an average season at best in his debut in Miami.

As the Dolphins are expected to make a key acquisition or two via free agency for their defensive secondary, they should consider Bosa if he’s still available when they’re on the clock.

He would make an immediate impact upon arrival. At 6’6 and 275 pounds, Bosa would compliment Suh as well as others around him nicely.

Since Bosa is one of the top defensive prospects in this year’s draft, plenty of teams ahead of the Dolphins might be interested in what he brings to the table as well. The Dolphins are no strangers to trading up to get a prospect they absolutely want but it’s hard to predict at this point in time how his final stock will be heading into draft weekend.

In his collegiate career at Ohio State, Bosa totaled 148 tackles, 26.0 sacks and five forced fumbles. He’s also a native of Florida and would be even more excited to play for the home team as his father, John Bosa, was also a first-round draft pick of the Dolphins back in 1987. It’s time the Dolphins made a statement and can actually brag about a much-improved pass rush heading into next season.

Bosa is a classic overachiever that loves to make a name for himself by being confident about his abilities. At the 2016 NFL Combine, in an article written by Paul Kuharsky of ESPN.com, Bosa claimed he was the best player in the entire draft. Take a look at what he said below:

"“I do believe I’m the best player in the draft,” Bosa said Friday at the NFL scouting combine. “There’s, of course, a lot of amazing players in the draft, and it’s going to be up to Tennessee to make that decision. But I think as a top player, if you don’t believe that, then there is something wrong."

Confidence breeds success as he’s no doubt going to be motivated to backup his statements once he makes the transition into the NFL wherever he ends up. The Dolphins need someone of his caliber and skill-set to really push the envelope and bring some respect to a franchise long lost of being taken as a serious contender.
