Ben Roethlisberger threw a beautiful deep ball to Sammie Coates after the receiver burned by the Jets secondary for a 72-yard Steelers touchdown

No one was truly doubting the Pittsburgh Steelers offense coming into the 2016 NFL season. However, if there was one question, it involved downfield threats in the passing game. With Martavis Bryant suspended for all 16 games, the question was whether or not Sammie Coates would be able to step up into that role and be at least close to what Bryant was for this team.

Through the first four games of the season Coates indeed showed flashes of him being close to that level of burner. However, he went full-on torch-mode in Week 5 in the first quarter agains the New York Jets.

Exceptionally early in the game, Coates was lined up on the right side of the field. There was nothing fancy about his route, really. The Steelers speedster simply looked at his matchup and turned on the afterburners to blow by everyone on the field in coverage. Ben Roethlisberger then greeted him with a beautifully thrown deep ball that he hauled in and took to the house for the 72-yard touchdown:

You literally can’t rest for a second against this Steelers offense. Oh yeah; I think it’s also safe to say that Coates is doing just fine as a replacement for Bryant.

Granted, the Pittsburgh offense will have its moments where it goes silent. However, there’s no doubt that the Steelers when they’re on are one of the most dangerous units out of all 32 teams.
