Another former playoff team in the Houston Texans, another lamb left to slaughter from the Minnesota Vikings.

31. 60. 13. 10. Final

In Week 5, the Minnesota Vikings were down a starting right tackle, a star second-year wide receiver in Stefon Diggs, and also played with a hobbled starting tight end. The resiliency of these Minnesota players is just outstanding.

The Houston Texans came in with a 3-1 record, two stud receivers in DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller, and a top five defense versus the pass. None of that seemed to matter as the purple and gold took control early in the first quarter and never looked back.

Osweiler was continuously pummeled by the Vikings pass rush, while the Vikings secondary stayed unpredictable confusing Houston’s aerial attack. Lamar Miller was stunted, Fuller was held to a single catch, and the Texans net total of offense was 214 yards. What was even more impressive from Minnesota’s defense was the fact that they held the Texans to 1-of-13 on third downs. That’s an abysmal seven percent conversation rate.

Houston must find consistency from their offense if they are going to make noise going forward in their division. Next stop the Texans hope to right the ship against the Colts next Sunday.

Three Stars

Adam Thielen, Vikings – Minny fans had to be curious whom exactly would be the man to step up in place of Stefon Diggs. Why not the Minnesota native himself? Thielen has been Minnesota’s version of Julian Edelman the first two games, but showed us all that he has the ability to completely take over a game. Seven catches for 127 yards and a touchdown; have yourself a day Mr. Thielen!

Sam Bradford, Vikings – What can you say? Sending a first round pick to the Eagles has turned out to be a magnificent move via Rick Spielman and company. After another solid outing, 270 yards and two touchdowns with zero turnovers, this offense with Bradford under center has never looked better than from these last two weeks.

Cordarrelle Patterson, Vikings – This position could’ve been filled with many names. Marcus Sherels continuing to shine on special teams, the Vikings defense once again proving to the NFL they are a force to be reckoned with, but this one had to the former first round wide receiver bewildered throughout most of his time under Zimmer. “Flash” once again found relevancy in the offense and scored his first offensive receiving touchdown since catching Teddy Bridgewater’s first career touchdown toss over TWO YEARS AGO. Way to keep your nose to the grind stone Patterson.
