Philadelphia Eagles vs Washington Redskins

The Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Redskins enter this Week 6 matchup on two different ends of the spectrum. The Eagles come in off of their first loss of the year, a 24-23 devastating loss against the Detroit Lions. Luckily for the Eagles they stand at 3-1 on the season and have their first NFC East matchup this season.

Must Read: Quarterback Power Rankings: Wentz over Cousins?

Their rookie quarterback Carson Wentz continues to impress through his first four games, but he needs to make sure he doesn’t have that “well, he is a rookie” game on Sunday. After fumbling the ball late in the fourth and costing the Eagles a win, running back Ryan Mathews needs to step up this week.

Redskins’ quarterback Kirk Cousins started off slow this season, but he has found his form as of late. He needs to make sure he continues to play well because the Eagles defense has been solid this season. If the Redskins want to win four games in a row, they need to make sure one of their wide receivers steps up against the Eagles’ weakest part of their defense, their cornerbacks.

Eagles Keys To Victory

Run the football: The Redskins run defense is bad, and that may be putting it nicely. They have given up the third most rushing yards this season, so a healthy dose of Mathews will be needed.

One wide receiver needs to step up: It has been lackluster after lackluster performances for the Eagles’ wide receivers. In Week 6, someone needs to step up and be the man.

More from NFL Spin Zone

Let Wentz stay aggressive: Wentz threw a pick to end the game last week. The pass was aggressive, to say the least, but they still need to let him play the game his way. He shouldn’t feel like he can’t play aggressive because they need him to if they are going to win.

Washington Keys To Victory

Try to Stop the Run: Philadelphia will definitely attack the Redskins poor rush defense, so they need to step up if they want to get another win.

Josh Norman needs to be Josh Norman: The 2016 free agent cornerback is currently the seventh best cornerback in the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus. He needs to come to play and get into the head of the rookie quarterback.

Use Chris Thompson Effectively: Did you watch the Eagles defense try and cover Theo Riddick in Week 5? Well, the Redskins did and they need to use Thompson the same way.

Odds

Point Spread: Philadelphia -3
Moneyline: Philadelphia -135, Washington +115
Over/Under: 45

Prediction

The Redskins win streak will be broken on Sunday as Wentz and the Eagles bounce back from their first loss. Look for Wentz to play well and, even though he throws an interception to Norman early, he gets the best of the Washington secondary late in the game.
