The Minnesota Vikings fell flat for the second-straight week, getting dogged on the road by the lowly Chicago Bears in the return of Jay Cutler

The Philadelphia Eagles laid out the blueprint to defeat the then undefeated Minnesota Vikings, Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears followed suit and exploited the purple some more. This was supposed to be Minnesota’s rebound game, the opportune opponent to right the ship before they head home.

That just wasn’t the case as the return of Cutler fueled an offensive revolution against one of the NFL’s best defenses. The gunslinger made the most of every play the Vikings gave him, possibly auditioning for a role on another NFL team.

Minnesota hasn’t looked as vulnerable as they did tonight. Their offense looked predictable, the offensive line is in complete shambles and the Vikings run game has been non-existent all season long. For a now 5-2 division leading team, it looked like Minnesota completely gave up in all aspects.

More from NFL Spin Zone

Chicago did their best to expose an already fragile Minny squad, Detroit with the sharp Matthew Stafford may just stick a dagger in an already wounded team next week.

Three Stars

Jay Cutler, Bears (20-31, 251 Yards, 1 Touchdown) – Let’s be honest, not even Bears fans could have predicted this return for an up and down Cutler. Coming back from a sprained thumb, missing the last four weeks, it seemed as if John Fox and company were ready to move on. Jay now finds himself in the driver seat of a team that just beat their division leader. Whatever the situation may be in Chicago, Cutler must make the best of it.

Jordan Howard, Bears (30 Touches, 202 Total Yards, 1 Touchdown) – It made absolutely no sense when the Bears immediately went into a running back by committee approach when Ka’Deem Carey returned. Howard proved that theory correct, blowing through the Vikings defense for some credible splash plays. If the rookie can show up against a defense like this, he deserves to be featured going forward in this offense.

Stefon Diggs, Vikings (8 receptions, 76 yards 1 Touchdown) – The lone bright spot for the Minnesota Vikings has to be Diggs. This fifth-round pick had become non-existent since returning from injury over his last three games, but Bradford finally found their best playmaker on offense, even if it was during garbage time. Going forward Minnesota must do a better job getting guys like Diggs the ball a lot more frequently.
