Green Bay Packers vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Week 12 features a Monday Night Football matchup between the Green Bay Packers and the Philadelphia Eagles. Green Bay will travel to Philly with hopes that they can turn their season around and get back in the win column. They have lost four-straight games and, to make matters worse, they are 1-5 on the road this season.

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has taken a lot of heat this year for his teams poor season. Rodgers needs to make sure he exploits the Eagles’ cornerbacks throughout the game. He has the weapons to do it and Jordy Nelson needs to help his quarterback out by making some plays himself.

Philadelphia is coming off of loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 11, but they are undefeated (4-0) at home this season. While playing in their home stadium, Lincoln Financial Field, they looked like a Super Bowl contender, but they haven’t found their stride on the road. The Eagles 2016 first-round pick, quarterback Carson Wentz, has played well this season, even though he doesn’t have much help on offense. The Eagles will need him to play well and have their defense step up again at home if they are going to get a much needed victory in Week 12.

Packers Keys To Victory

Throw the Ball—A Lot: Rodgers is already fifth in the NFL with his 410 pass attempts this season (41 per game). The Packers need to throw the ball 40 plus times if they are going to beat the Eagles.

Protect Aaron Rodgers: The Packers have given up the ninth most sacks (24) in the NFL and the Eagles have sacked the quarterback 26 times this season, eighth best in the league. If the Packers want to win, they need to protect their quarterback.

Score Touchdowns, Not Kick Field Goals: The Eagles defense has been dominant at home this season, only giving up three touchdowns. Green Bay needs to score touchdowns and not just kick field goals or they could be in for a long day.

Eagles Keys To Victory

Let Carson Wentz Free: At times, the Eagles haven’t let Wentz throw the ball all over the field. On Monday Night Football, they need to let him throw a lot against an opposing defense that has already given up 22 passing touchdowns this season.

Target Dorial-Green Beckham Early: DGB hasn’t had a very good year, but he showed last week he can make some plays (five receptions (eight targets) for 54 yards and a touchdown). A lot of that was in garbage time, so they need to target him early and see if he can make some plays when it matters most.

Protect Their House: 4-0 at home says a lot. The Eagles need to keep that momentum going and feed off of the energy their home crowd gives them on Monday Night.

Prediction

Aaron Rodgers will have a field day throwing against the Eagles cornerbacks, but Carson Wentz should do the same against the Packers’ poor secondary. Green Bay isn’t playing well on the road and the Eagles haven’t lost all season in Philadelphia. It is going to be closer than many people think, but the Eagles will edge out the Packers and move to 6-5.
