Patriots at Jets Recap, Highlights, Final Score, More
The New York Jets played a stronger game than expected, but it wasn’t enough as they fell to the New England Patriots.
The New York Jets played a game far better than anyone expected. It was certainly better than I expected in this week’s preview. It didn’t hurt New York’s side that Tom Brady entered the game a little banged up, as did Rob Gronkowski. Gronkowski was unable to finish the game, leaving for good late in the second half with a back injury.
The Jets defense showed up big time in this one, starting right from early in the game. They didn’t let the Patriots get a thing going until the second quarter. A Nick Folk field goal was the only first quarter score, but a Brandon Marshall touchdown on the first play of the second quarter broke New York out to a 10-0 lead.
However, the game went into the half 10-10 after the first of two Malcolm Mitchell touchdowns. The Jets weren’t able to put together multiple scores, and the defense of New York held them in it. A Quincy Enunwa touchdown put the Jets up late by the score of 17-13, but they weren’t able to hold it. A field goal followed by a late touchdown to Malcolm Mitchell ended the Jets hopes in this one as they fell by the score of 22-17.

Neither team did much in terms of running the football. The Jets posted a net of 64 rushing yards while New England posted 91. Although Brady wasn’t sacked all game long, he was knocked down several times, leaving him uneasy in the pocket for a good portion of the contest. He didn’t have Gronkowski as we mentioned earlier, and Martellus Bennett left the game with an injury as well, so he was missing weapons.
Even so Brady did what Brady does best, leading his team to win the game when he has to get it done. That’s why the Patriots are 9-2 and the Jets are 3-8.
Three Stars
Quincy Enunwa, Jets — Enunwa put up another strong game, showing his ability to step up in place of Eric Decker. On the afternoon, Enunwa posted five catches for 109 yards and a touchdown.
Julian Edelman, Patriots — Edelman just quietly gets the job done every time out. In this one, Edelman was good for eight receptions for 83 yards
LeGarrett Blount, Patriots — It wasn’t a huge game for Blount he was able to convert runs when he needed to most. He ran the ball just 11 times for 67 yards, including a 23-yard run to seal the contest for New England.
