Andrew Luck led a depleted Indianapolis Colts team to Minnesota take on a Vikings team to likely spoil their playoff hoes.

46. Final. 6. 60. 34

Not exactly the return Adrian Peterson would have liked entering a home game versus the Indianapolis Colts, watching his Minnesota Vikings get completely smoked on home turf.

Peterson carried the ball to a tune of six rushes for 22 yards, while losing a fumble on his best run of the day of 13 yards. Indianapolis stunned this Minnesota team, putting up an astonishing 27 points by halftime.

Minnesota’s defense had been stout throughout the season, specifically versus the pass and points against, today though, a Andrew Luck led offense took Minnesota to school. Not to be left out, the Colts defense had arguably their best defensive effort of the season; allowing a season low six points, holding Minnesota’s offense to a meager 282 total yards.

Indianapolis still finds themselves two games out of first place with Houston beating Jacksonville today, then Texans hold the tiebreaker between the two. Even though the chances are bleak, the Colts need to win out and the Texans to lose out for their final two games.

Minnesota, as of right now, are not mathematically eliminated from the playoffs just yet, though their probability was a whole lot better if they had beaten the Colts.

Three Stars

Andrew Luck, Colts (21 of 28, 250 yards, 2 TDs) – A widely efficient game for Luck and the Colts offense, even without their top red zone target in Donte Moncrief. Luck found Philip Dorsett for a bomb down the left side and another to the former basketball player, Erik Swoope. Make-shift offensive line and all, Luck comes through and keeps Indianapolis alive.

Frank Gore, Colts (30 Touches for 115 yard) – Ol’ reliable didn’t do anything particularly amazing versus the Vikings, but it was consistent enough to give the Colts unpredictability on offense. Gore may not be as spry as he once was, yet still the premier option in the backfield on a very explosive offense.

Colts Defense (5 Sacks, 3 Turnovers, 6 points Allowed) – The Colts defense has been one of the worst all season. However, they have been a tad bit better since their Week 10 bye. On Sunday they spoiled Peterson’s return, created havoc on Bradford, and forced Minnesota to become one-dimensional early. While the offense did most of the work, this defense more than held their own on the road.
