2. Passing yards and touchdowns

Philadelphia’s passing attack last season was, well, awful (if you just look at the stat sheet). Those 43 dropped passes had an enormous impact on both the passing yards and passing touchdowns last year. Regardless, the Eagles (Wentz) need to improve in passing yards and touchdowns.

More from NFL Spin Zone

In 2016, the Eagles were the 24th best team in the NFL with 224.1 passing yards per game. They ended the year with 3,585 total passing yards, and it is obvious they need to improve on that. Today’s NFL is a passing league so if you are not one of the teams throwing the ball all over the field you are most likely going to struggle.

If the weak passing yardage numbers weren’t enough, the Eagles ended the year with 16 touchdown passes. Those 16 touchdowns put the Eagles 28th in the NFL, with only the Browns, Rams, and Texans below them. And if those teams weren’t enough to show you how bad that is, they were tied with the New York Jets. Enough said.

The Eagles and Wentz need to make sure that when the 2017 season is over, they are in the top half of the league in passing yards and touchdowns. Wentz is poised for a big year, so they will improve — especially with the additions of Jeffery and Smith.
