The Pittsburgh Steelers are ready to welcome back wide receiver Martavis Bryant, but he still hasn’t been cleared to return to the field.

Both the rookies and veterans for the Pittsburgh Steelers have reported to St. Vincent’s College in Latrobe, PA, for training camp. There is a lot of excitement surrounding Mike Tomlin’s team. Last season, the club came one win away from reaching Super Bowl LI.

Instead, the New England Patriots rolled to a 36-17 victory and went onto capture another Lombardi Trophy. Now with a roster loaded on offense and improving on defense, the Black and Gold are hoping to get back to the Big Game for the first time since 2010.

However, there’s this issue regarding one of the league’s most explosive wide receivers. You will recall that the Steelers got good news three months ago when Martavis Bryant was reinstated by the NFL. This was after serving a year-long suspension. Apparently, the “conditional” part of the decision means Tomlin isn’t quite ready to see the young performer on the field just yet.

More from Pittsburgh Steelers

On Thursday, Steelers’ general manager Kevin Colbert issued the following statement (via Steelers.com):

"Upon his conditional reinstatement in April, Martavis Bryant was made aware it was only the beginning of a process toward a return to being a full contributing member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. We have been informed by the NFL that Martavis is still in the process of being fully reinstated. Until that time, Martavis will be permitted to take part in off-the-field team activities at training camp, but he will not be permitted to practice or play in any games."

So while Bryant can be at training camp, his participation with the club is limited, to say the least.

The Steelers passing attack, featuring quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and wideout Antonio Brown, is obviously one of the best in the game. With Bryant, it’s downright scary. But those hoping to see the young performer with his teammates on the practice field are going to be disappointment — at least for now.
