3. Chargers depth at receiver

While I truly hope that you’re worried about Mike Williams the person, I do understand that the Chargers fan in all of us is wondering how this will effect the team. Los Angeles decide to use their seventh overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft on him, and we want to see him on the field. However, the Chargers are used to handling injuries, especially at their receiver spots.

In case you didn’t remember, Keenan Allen hasn’t played much football over the past two seasons. Actually, the team’s best receiver only played in one game last year and eight games the year before. That’s not the kind of thing that makes general managers sleep easy at night.

That being said, these kinds of injuries have given other players on the team opportunities to succeed in their absence. For example, Tyrell Williams, Travis Benjamin and Dontrelle Inman all stepped up for San Diego last year when Allen was out with an injury.

Again, this team is going to be fine without Mike Williams, even if he has to miss the entire year. Yes, it would be somewhat of a blow to not have him out there. But heading into 2017, Los Angeles is built to withstand these types of injuries to their team.
