One of the Pittsburgh Steelers most talented players continues to make progress when it comes to getting back on the field.
Training camp is always a trying time for any football team. Tough practices in the summer heat are followed by hard decisions made by coaching staffs.
For the Pittsburgh Steelers, their hard work will start to come to fruition on Friday night at MetLife Stadium. It’s the club’s preseason opener against the New York Giants. And the defending AFC North Champions are expected to be in the hunt for a trip to Super Bowl LII.
Hence, all good news is a positive. And Mike Tomlin’s squad got some of that courtesy of Kevin Colbert. The team’s general manager issued the following statement on Wednesday evening (via Steelers.com):
More from Pittsburgh Steelers
- Pittsburgh Steelers rookie sleeper everyone should be talking about
- Kenny Pickett looks amazing going into year two for the Steelers
- 3 players the Pittsburgh Steelers gave up on way too soon
- Rest of NFL will regret letting Steelers land this steal of a rookie
- Steelers would be ideal landing spot for Caleb Williams, Drake Maye
"Martavis Bryant has been informed by the NFL that he is now permitted to participate in all preseason activities, including practices and games. He will continue to be evaluated as to his readiness to participate in regular-season activities under the terms of his conditional reinstatement."
Translation: The talented wide receiver continues to take steps forward as he looks to resume his football career.
You will recall that the 2014 fourth-round pick from Clemson missed all of this past season due to a league suspension. In April, he was conditionally reinstated by the NFL, the emphasis on conditional. But all appears to be going well so far and no doubt Tomlin, Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown will be happy to see him back on the field.

In 21 regular-season contests with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Martavis Bryant has totaled 76 receptions for 1,314 yards and 14 touchdowns. That adds up for an eye-opening 17.3 yards per catch. Teamed with Brown, the club’s passing attack is lethal. The 25-year-old performer is on the right path at the moment. That needs to continue if we are going to see Bryant suit up against the Cleveland Browns in early September.
