After months of silence, current Steelers hold-out/superstar running back gave a few words via social media.

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell has had quite the theatrical offseason. Pushing Austin Powers aside to take on the role of “International Man of Mystery”, Bell has been impressively quiet and hard to read about his current situation with the Steelers, even going as far to delete all posts from his Instagram page.

Since the moment Bell was slapped with his franchise tag, question marks lurked about his future in Pittsburgh. On Sunday night, Bell took to twitter to provide some possible insight on the state of his playing career.

Speculation of Bell ditching the Steel City in favor of a more lucrative deal has run rapid through the past few weeks, considering his absence from training camp and first two preseason games. When Bell arrives to the Steelers facility and officially signs his tender is still unknown.

Yet ESPN’s Adam Schefter believes Bell “will report back to team before regular season kicks off, though it remains unclear exactly when” via his Twitter.

Although broad, it is apparent that a timeline for Bell’s return has been established. It was very unlikely Bell missed any regular season games, yet given the uncertainty thanks in-part to Bell’s silence, it was (and still is) not completely ruled out entirely. To the dismay of Steelers fans and even the organization itself, Bell has played his cards close to only himself.

With all the surrounding chaos that pairs with the star back’s situation, Bell’s message is clear: He wants to remain in Pittsburgh. The business side of the game has turned Bell into an unlikable figure for some, and a respectable one for others. Many will laugh at his words, and understandably so, considering his actions don’t quite align with his words. Simply put, actions speak louder than tweets.

Will Bell’s patience off the field pay off like it does on the field? Only time will tell. Missing training camp is up for debate in terms of how beneficial/costly it could be, and Le’Veon shows no signs of backing down on his stance of earning the money he desires. However, the most important component to any extension with Bell is a willingness to stay with the Steelers, and Bell’s words put any of that doubt to rest with the push of a button.
