Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston has seen his jersey sales increase steadily since the NFL Draft.

These days, it is rare that national media attention equals positive press. For Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston, he is the exception to the adage.

In this case, it is his jersey sales that have gained positive press. Per Bonnie Mott of BucsWire.com, Winston’s No. 3 jersey rose 35 spots on Dick’s Sporting Goods Jersey Report, now ranking at No. 31 on the list instead of No. 66. Superstar receiver Mike Evans and rookie tight end O.J. Howard also make the list as the buzz about the team continues to grow.

Winston is the top Buccaneer on the list in terms of sales, having held that spot since the NFL Draft.

More from Tampa Bay Buccaneers

It seems as though the national media attention is treating the Bucs well. With HBO’s Hard Knocks well underway, even the casual fan has begun to learn more about the team. Particularly in a league dominated by the likes of New England, Atlanta, and Green Bay (just to name a few), it is refreshing to see the Bucs get some love.

This reminds me a bit of Winston as a Florida State Seminole. There was so much hype surrounding him from day one. Many predicted he would become one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL once he got there.

There was nothing he could not do on the field. I remember watching his first game as a freshman in college and saying “This kid is gonna be legit.” He was fascinating to watch. At the end of it all, he quickly became one of the most polarizing players in all of college football.

Now, he is rapidly becoming one of the most recognizable players in the National Football League. Whether it be due to his style of play or from his appearances on Hard Knocks, he is a household name. For a kid from Hueytown, Ala. his achievements have been impressive to say the least.
