There are great matchups and then there are great Fantasy Football matchups. But which NFL Week 2 game is the best of the weekend?

Each Sunday during the NFL season, certain games stand out. These are not necessarily the games with the most on the line or with the most impact on the standings. Instead, these contests hold the most star power and fantasy football implications.

These are the games every fan needs to watch, from the die hard to the guy pressured into joining a fantasy league with work associates. This is the fantasy football game of the week for NFL Week 2.

Two brothers from New York, Dan Salem and Todd Salem, debate Fantasy Football in today’s NFL Sports Debate.

Fantasy Football Week 2

Some surprise performances highlighted Week 1, with squads like Jacksonville and Kansas City exploding onto the scene. We also lost the greatest fantasy attraction in the NFL to injury, at least for the foreseeable future, when David Johnson went down with a wrist injury.

Game of the Week

Todd Salem: For NFL Week 2, no one is sure whether those Week 1 trends will continue or reverse course. I will go back to the stalwarts. Though both of these teams are 0-1, the PatriotsSaints game should still be a fantastic fantasy contest, and it is my choice as fantasy game of the week.

This is probably the best quarterback matchup of the week for obvious reasons. We have some huge questions at running back, but each team has multiple options. At wide receiver, the same exists. There are close to a dozen skill players on these teams who may have an impact this Sunday. We just aren’t sure which ones will shine. And then there’s Rob Gronkowski, the best tight end in the biz.

I wish these two teams didn’t look so poor in Week 1, but I will rely on past experience to think the larger sample is that each offense will be one of the best in the league this season.

Dan Salem: That is an excellent pick for Fantasy Football game of the week. Neither team showed much in the way of defense last week, so both the Patriots and Saints can expect big days from their offensive skill players. Unless of course both teams are washed up, which will leave everyone quite disappointed.

If Week 1 is any indication, then the Philadelphia Eagles at Kansas City Chiefs will be an incredible game for fantasy purposes. Multiple players on both of these teams came out of obscurity to become fantasy relevant. Kareem Hunt aims to prove he is a stud, as does Alex Smith.

Philadelphia and Carson Wentz bring another set of newly reliable fantasy options on offense. Plus, either team’s defense could offer up some fantasy excitement of its own. This game is my pick for Fantasy Football game of the week. Its a sleeper, only because the names are new this season.

I must throw honorable mention at two other matchups this week. Minnesota at Pittsburgh could prove to be a monster fantasy game, if the Vikings keep things going offensively. Green Bay at Atlanta also has huge fantasy implications. The quarterbacks are obvious studs, as are the wide receivers. But neither team dazzled in Week 1, so its possible this matchup is a flop.
