Beware the lies told by week 1 of the season. Take the points with a proven winner. Your best picks against the spread for NFL Week 2. NFL 2017 betting.

A lot went against script in Week 1, including the first game of the NFL season. There were dramatic finishes, debilitating injuries, and coaches who may be meandering their way to being fired. In that, it was a standard week in the league.

NFL Week 2 is tricky. We have a bit of information, but one week could lead us astray as easily as it could inform. There are some huge lines, because of the results from week 1. Yet we know the first week of the season always tells lies. Big fat lies. Are the surprise teams real or phony? Are the disappointments in for seasons from hell or quick turnarounds? What do you believe? Be careful how many points you give up this week. We are taking them as often as possible, as we each pick two games against the spread each week of the season. Onto your NFL Week 2 picks!

Two brothers from New York, Dan Salem and Todd Salem, debate NFL Week 2 and the NFL 2017 in today’s NFL Sports Debate.

Todd Salem’s NFL Week 2 Picks

Dallas Cowboys -1.5 at Denver Broncos

Denver almost gave its Week 1 win away. Dallas did no such thing, essentially dominating a Giants team that was inept on offense. The Broncos offense is similarly questionable, and I could see a similar outcome playing out. Dallas controls the game against a quality defense that is getting no help from the other side of the ball. This feels like it will be a low cover that is nevertheless not really in doubt.

Washington Redskins +2.5 at Los Angeles Rams

Color me dubious about the domination of the LA Rams. Washington didn’t look very good in Week 1, but each team’s outcome has skewed this line too much. Washington should have a quality offense, and Los Angeles should not. I don’t love backing mediocre teams on the road, but getting close to a field goal with the team I believe is superior is too good to pass up. We will see if the Rams are the real deal to some degree here. I don’t think they are.

Buffalo Bills +7.5 at Carolina Panthers

The Buffalo Bills dominated the New York Jets in Week 1. Many people expected the Jets to be awful, but they were in fact quite competent. Buffalo has an excellent running game and a stout defense. Carolina, on the other hand, struggled to muster up its offense against a weak opponent to start the season.

They will not be able to get much going against the Bills, so this line is particularly lopsided. Take the points with Buffalo. People have yet to buy the Bills, but I’m a believer. Tyrod Taylor is legit and currently a better scrambler than Cam Newton. More than a touchdown is too good to pass up. I’d take Buffalo to win regardless.

Minnesota Vikings +6 at Pittsburgh Steelers

This is another case of the home team getting way too much love. Pittsburgh needed all it had to defeat the upstart Browns in week 1. Minnesota is a more formidable opponent with a potentially dangerous offense. I don’t trust the Steelers to win by a larger margin, if at all. Take the points with the Vikings. This will be a close game at the very least and six points is a lot. Believe your eyes. Minnesota is on the rise and the Steelers have plateaued.
