4. Week 2 Running Back Waiver Wire Adds Make Quick Impressions

If you added a Cardinals running back to your fantasy squad after David Johnson went down, it looks like you can already drop him. Chris Johnson surprisingly led the backfield in carries (11) while Andre Ellington led the backfield in PPR fantasy points (5.3). Kerywnn Williams finished second on the team in carries with 9 but only had 22 yards. This looks like a three-man committee with no upside.

Tarik Cohen was last week’s No.1 waiver wire add and he looks well worth it. He finished with 8 receptions for the second straight week and Jordan Howard‘s health is a major concern.

Ravens Javorius Allen finished with 19 touches for 101 yards and 1 touchdown. Right now, he looks like a better fantasy option than teammate Terrance West.

3. Is Trevor Siemian this year’s Matt Ryan?

No, you didn’t read the title wrong. The Broncos quarterback needs some serious love going into Week 3. Trevor Siemian has 22+ fantasy points in each of his first two games while combining for seven total touchdowns. Now do I think he’s going to win MVP of the NFL and lead a historic offense like Matt Ryan did a season ago? No.

I do think Siemian could be a quarterback owners overlooked during drafts but finishes the season as a top-five fantasy football quarterback. His biggest competition for “This year’s Matt Ryan” award? Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz. The young gunslinger has 300+ passing yards and multiple touchdown passes in each of the first two games this season.

Remember, the trick in fantasy football is not trying to add a player when you are certain he’s going to be good. By that point, all the other members in your league are certain of it too. You add a player when there’s still some doubt. If you’re an owner who drafted a player like Seahawks Russell Wilson on Panthers Cam Newton, Siemian (and Wentz) are worth the add.
