Defense
New York’s defense is an embarrassment. An absolute embarrassment. This is supposed to be the strength of the team. For the second week in a row, they allowed over 400 total yards (410) and over 175 rushing yards (180). Boy, do they miss David Harris at linebacker.

Oakland’s offensive line opened up gaping holes all game long. Where was New York’s gap control? Cordarrelle Patterson exploded through the line for a 43-yard touchdown scamper and backup halfback Jalen Richard erupted for a 52-yard touchdown run. This simply can’t continue to happen. The Jets have given up 370 yards on the ground already in their first two games. Ridiculous.
Where was the pass rush? They registered no sacks and allowed quarterback Derek Carr (23-of-28, 230 yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions) to pick them apart. Muhammad Wilkerson looks like a shell of the Pro Bowler lineman he was two years ago and Darron Lee has to move to outside linebacker because he does not have the size and strength to handle powerful runners like Marshawn Lynch.
The Jets forced no turnovers, something they had to do if they wanted to hang close with a team as strong offensively as the Raiders. Although rookie safeties Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye performed pretty well, New York’s secondary allowed Crabtree to gain too much separation. The veteran wideout finished with a game-high six receptions for 80 yards and three touchdowns.
Once again, Kony Ealy (two tackles) and Leonard Williams (three assisted tackles) had quiet games. They have to step up or this defense is really doomed.
