Taking a look at which two teams will take over in primetime and play on Sunday Night Football in Week 4 of the 2017 NFL season

Sunday Night Football in Week 4 of the NFL season features a matchup of two 1-2 teams, as the Seattle Seahawks host the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts are coming off of their first win of the season, defeating the Cleveland Browns 31-28 at home in Week 3.

Seattle had a disappointing Week 3 outing, losing to the Tennessee Titans 33-27 in a game in which they allowed the Titans to score 21 unanswered points in the third quarter. This will be an important matchup as each of these teams are looking to make the playoffs by season end, and starting 1-3 would make that task incredibly difficult.

Clearly, this game was scheduled for prime time with the belief that Andrew Luck would be under center for the Colts. However, backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett has proven that he can bring excitement to games and could liven up this Sunday night matchup. In Week 3, Brissett had the best game of his career that included going 17-of-24 for 259 yards.

Brissett also not only threw the first touchdown of his career but rushed for two more. Obviously, Brissett’s talent cannot compare to Luck’s when healthy. However, Brissett did prove in Week 3 that he is a significantly better option than Scott Tolzien or any of Indianapolis’ other options.

The Seahawks have been a disappointing team throughout the first three weeks of the season. However, this is not a new place for Seattle to find themselves in. The Seahawks have notoriously struggled in the opening weeks of the last few seasons, going only 4-5 in September games since 2015.

To compare, they have gone 17-8 in regular-season games after the month of September in that same time period. While it is unclear why Seattle seems to always struggle in the first month of the season, it is good news for fans as we have seen them bounce back.

This game should be an exciting matchup with a lot of stakes on the line. Brissett and the Colts are trying to stay afloat long enough so that Luck will still have a chance to lead this team to the playoffs when he returns. Luck is reportedly scheduled to start practicing this week and would likely need another month to actually be ready to play. Seattle is looking to prove that their early struggles are normal for them and not systematic of deeper concerns that could derail their season.
