The Indianapolis Colts faced the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, Oct. 1 in Week 4 of the 2017 NFL season. Highlights and recap of the game are below

It was another Sunday Night Football showdown as the Indianapolis Colts went out west to square off with the Seattle Seahawks. Both teams had slow starts to the season and entered with a record of just 1-2.

Early on in the matchup, it looked like we might be in store for an old-fashioned slugfest between these two teams whose offenses had struggled coming into the matchup. Right from the onset, however, it seemed like the Seahawks were the team in control. They forced the Colts to punt on their opening drive, and responded with a field goal. On the ensuing drive, Seattle forced another punt, but Indy pinned them back deep. And sure enough, that bit them as Russell Wilson was brought down in the end zone for a safety, making it 3-2.

The offenses stalled briefly after that with each punting. However, Jacoby Brissett then made a critical error as he didn’t put near enough zip on a pass to the outside. Justin Coleman jumped the route and took the interception he grabbed 28 yards to the house, increasing the lead to 10-2. The Colts wouldn’t die, though. They responded with a 12-play, 80-yard drive capped off by a Robert Turbin touchdown run from one yard out.

It actually seemed like the Seahawks might unravel at that point. On their next drive, Russell Wilson threw an interception, and the Colts capitalized with another touchdown, this an 18-yard pass from Brissett to Donte Moncrief on a beautiful ball. Seattle then missed a field goal on the next drive, taking them into halftime down 15-10.

That didn’t last long, though, as the Seahawks came out hot. Wilson put together a strong nine-play, 84-yard drive for a touchdown, taking it in himself from 23 yards out and then converting the two-point conversion. However, he then threw another interception when they got the ball back, giving the Colts a field goal to tie it up.

From there, however, Seattle flipped a switch and just dominated. J.D. McKissic came out of nowhere to cap off a six-play drive with a 30-yard touchdown run. Then, on Indy’s first play on the ensuing drive, the pass rush got to Brissett and forced a fumble. Bobby Wagner then picked it up and took it to the house. An 18-18 tie turned into a 32-18 Seahawks lead in an instant.

For the rest of the evening, the Colts couldn’t get much of anything going on offense, running only 12 more plays for only 23 yards. Meanwhile, Seattle ran the clock out so well that they scored twice more, making the final an emphatic 46-18 victory.
