Kansas City Chiefs vs. Houston Texans

In what should be one of the best games of Week 5, the Houston Texans will play host to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football. The Chiefs and Texans appear to be two of the hottest teams in the NFL as they enter this Week 5 matchup.

Kansas City remains the lone undefeated team in the league as they won a close game against the Washington Redskins on Monday night last week.

As for the Texans, they are coming off a 57-14 victory over the Tennessee Titans last week, setting the franchise record for points scored. Rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson also became only the second rookie in NFL history to throw for four touchdowns and rush for another.

Keys to Victory

The Texans need to continue running a simple offense for Watson to thrive in, especially against an elite Chiefs defense. Houston has found great success when giving Watson easy reads and situations designed specifically for him. In the last two games, Watson has thrown for 584 yards and scored seven total touchdowns.

It is still very early in Watson’s early career to call him a star. However, Watson is certainly looking like the future of the quarterback position in Houston and a lot of credit for that should go toward head coach Bill O’Brien for building a system that takes advantage of Watson’s immense talent.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs focus should be on applying pressure to Watson, forcing him into uncomfortable situations. Despite how good Watson has looked over the last two games, he is still a rookie starting only the fourth game of his career. Watson has thrown four interceptions since being subbed in during the fourth quarter of the Texans Week 1 game.

Watson is still clearly prone to rookie mistakes that the Chiefs can take advantage of. One of the biggest things to focus on for the Chiefs is limiting Watson’s scrambling when being blitzed. Watson currently has 148 rushing yards this season, leading all quarterbacks in the NFL. He also has two rushing touchdowns for the season.

Prediction

Watson appears to be the future, but it’s the Chiefs that are currently the best team in the NFL. Not too many saw this team coming, especially after the loss of safety Eric Berry, who had been one of the most important players on the field for them.

However, the Chiefs have consistently proven they can win any kind of game. Kansas City has blown teams out and come from behind in the final minutes to win and reach Week 5 undefeated. In the end, I believe they will find a way to win this week as well.

Final Score: Kansas City Chiefs: 34, Houston Texans: 26
