It may not have been pretty for the Miami Dolphins in their wins, but it doesn’t have to be. The team still sits in the driver’s seat.

There is no such thing as a bad win, barring the exception of a debilitating injury to a star player which sinks you season. Despite a few miserable losses the Miami Dolphins have found a way to win three of their first five games.

The offense may have looked miserable and it may have taken a missed field goal, backup quarterback and miracle comeback on the road, but all that matters is the fact that they are winning games. Something that the franchise isn’t overly familiar with over the past decade or so.

I said the same thing after the team snuck one out in Los Angeles. Ugly wins are good things. You need the ugly wins to get to climb the ladder in this league. A win in Atlanta coming from 17 down is huge no matter how you slice it. Many will complain about the coaching, quarterback or offensive line. However, they should only get better and these unlikely wins are crucial for a playoff win.

More from Miami Dolphins

Jay Cutler and the offensive line should only improve as should the defense. Last year it took the team being 1-4 before they could put it all together and the team looked significantly worse than they do now.

Believe it or not if the season ended right now the Dolphins would be in the playoffs. Will they go on another streak like last season? It’s very doubtful. Nonetheless, they can still improve vastly and make a playoff run and these early upsets are crucial.

Of course this team is not yet complete and needs to improve in a few areas. Still, now there back isn’t against the wall and they can afford a slip up or two and be okay. Dolphins fans should be looking up right now, not focusing on the negative.

The offense has to improve, it can’t get much worse and they’re still above .500. This defense has proven they are good enough to lead a team to the playoffs. This is still a young offense with a new quarterback. Don’t be shocked if they are much better in November and still playing in January.

With all that said, this team must beat the Jets this week and build off a big win in Atlanta.
