Back to basics this week, because too many upsets are happening. Your best picks against the spread with teasers for NFL 2017 week 8!

Its no secret that underdogs keep covering and favorites are few and far between in the NFL 2017. Yet there are still a few dominant teams we can rely upon. Just watch out for injuries. They make everything ugly.

Its back to basics in NFL week 8, so everyone wins money. Your best picks against the spread with teasers. Here are the lines for Week 8 via Sportsbook Review.

Two brothers from New York, Dan Salem and Todd Salem, debate NFL 2017 in today’s NFL Sports Debate.

2017 Record ATS

Dan’s record ATS: 6-8
Todd’s record ATS: 5-9

After seven weeks, two teams are already within a game of their preseason over/under number. The New York Jets are 3-4 with a win total over/under of 3.5. (Some outlets had them at 3, which would already mean at least a push less than halfway through the season.) The Los Angeles Rams are 5-2, just a game off their over/under win total of 6. Of course, gambling is hard. The Jets and Rams, two of the biggest overachievers in the sport, are only three games over .500 against the spread combined. That’s a good record but not something amazing, like nearly reaching a full season win total after just seven weeks.

Todd Salem’s NFL Week 8 Picks

Todd’s Teaser:
Indianapolis Colts +16.5 (from +10.5) at Cincinnati Bengals
New York Jets +11 (from +5) vs. Atlanta Falcons

Before you say anything, I already feel stupid backing the Colts and Jets in a teaser. However, the value seems good! I was thinking about making both picks sans teaser. The lines feel high. Indy is terrible, but is Cincinnati three scores better than it? I really thought the Bengals had turned a corner before last week, but they got handled by a mediocre Steelers squad. Now I’m back to thinking they are nothing special themselves. Let’s see the Colts stick in a game against a defense outside the top 10 in the league.

As for the Jets, they stick in every game. The Falcons are just 2-4 ATS this year and have squarely fallen out of the realm of the elites. This line for the road Falcons hearkens back to the public remembering last year’s team, not the one we have seen in 2017

Washington Redskins +2.5 vs. Dallas Cowboys

This is an obvious pick. It doesn’t mean it will be right, but it’s obvious. Dallas is a public team, which inflates its lines anyway. The Cowboys are also coming off an impressive victory, except that victory came against San Francisco. Dallas isn’t as good as Washington. It is also the road team here. Washington is getting no credit. This line should be Redskins -2.5. I’ll take the extra five points

Dan Salem’s NFL Week 8 Picks

Dan’s Teaser:
Minnesota Vikings -3.5 (from -9.5) at Cleveland Browns
Oakland Raiders +8.5 (from +2.5) at Buffalo Bills

Betting against the Cleveland Browns has been as close to a sure thing as possible this season. In my teaser the Vikings are only giving up a little over a field goal, yet it would be shocking for them to win by less than seven points. The Minnesota defense is very good, while the Browns have struggled to simply identify who will be playing quarterback. Until Cleveland allows someone to play a full game at the position, I will not trust their offense. Vikings roll.

I liked what I saw from the Raiders last week, but Buffalo is still the better team playing at home. Yet they are not more than a touchdown better, so take the 8.5 points and Oakland in this teaser. The Bills defense has been excellent, but this will still be a close football game. No one is stopping Derek Carr completely.

Chicago Bears +9 at New Orleans Saints

New Orleans has been playing great defense, but so has Chicago. The Bears are no pushover, and I like their momentum as much as the Saints over the last two games. Nine points is too many to pass up. Chicago is gaining confidence and is playing ball-control football. This will limit the Saints ability to pull way ahead. I like the Bears with nine points in my pocket.
