Fantasy Football 2017: Best game to target in Week 11
By Dan Salem
The NFL season finally feels real in Week 11, with a slew of incredible matchups. Can you watch them all? We debate the best game for Fantasy Football.
Each week during the NFL season, certain games stand out. These are not necessarily the games with the most on the line or with the most impact on the standings. Instead, they hold the most star power and fantasy football implications.
These are the games every fan needs to watch, from the die hard to the guy pressured into joining a fantasy league with work associates. This is the fantasy football 2017 game of the week for NFL Week 11.
Two brothers from New York, Dan Salem and Todd Salem, debate Fantasy Football 2017 in today’s NFL Sports Debate.
Fantasy Football 2017 Week 11
NFL Week 11 is a gauntlet of great football matchups. Rams-Vikings, Patriots-Raiders, Eagles-Cowboys, and Falcons-Seahawks are the main events. We also have intriguing matchups between Buffalo and the Chargers, as well as New Orleans and Washington. It took close to a dozen weeks, but the 2017 season finally feels real.
Game of the Week
Todd Salem: The best real-life game is certainly Rams at Vikings. Both teams are 7-2, yet still feel like they need to prove they are elite teams. Los Angeles is 4-0 on the road; Minnesota is 4-1 at home. As great as its receivers are though, I don’t love the Minny offense. I want to see Teddy Bridgewater in there. He gives the team a higher ceiling. If Case Keenum plays again this week, which he probably will, Minnesota doesn’t do it for me.
The same goes for Philadelphia at Dallas, but for different reasons. Without Ezekiel Elliott, this Dallas team isn’t as good or as much fun. The offensive line isn’t on the same plane as last year’s, and thus mediocre runners can’t do as much.
More from NFL Spin Zone
- Dallas Cowboys made the trade everyone else should have made
- Pittsburgh Steelers rookie sleeper everyone should be talking about
- Anthony Richardson putting jaw-dropping talent on display immediately
- Denver Broncos’ stud wide receiver might be out for a while
- Washington Commanders: Three takeaways from win over Ravens
A case can probably be made for any or all of these matchups, but I’m going slightly off-board. My fantasy football game of the week is New Orleans at Washington.
The Saints are arguably the best team in the sport right now. The offense is slicing people with its running game, and then, oh yeah, we have Drew Brees throwing to Michael Thomas and Ted Ginn. This group is so prolific, it’s a rising tide that raises all boats. Washington isn’t as glamorous, but the Redskins have something pretty good too, and this doubles as a potential playoff elimination game for the Skins.
Many people may not realize it, but Kirk Cousins is third in the NFL in passing and has thrown more touchdowns than Brees. Jamison Crowder has woken back up the past two weeks, and Jordan Reed may be good to go in Week 11. There is no ground attack in Washington, but we want to see a shootout in this one anyway. Let’s hope the two quarterbacks can deliver.
Dan Salem: The Saints have been an incredible site for fantasy football fans since Week 3, but I’m not sold on their opponent. If New Orleans shuts down Washington like they did Buffalo, then we may be in store for another blowout. Cousins is excellent, so there’s reason to believe the Redskins make this a shootout. But because of the blowout potential, I’m leaning elsewhere for the top fantasy football game of Week 11.
Falcons versus Seahawks is the best game of the week for fantasy football. It also happens to be our Monday Night matchup, so score! I don’t trust either team to play much defense, opening the floodgates for both Matt Ryan and Russell Wilson to dominate offensively. Wilson just so happens to be Seattle’s leading rusher as well. Plus, Jimmy Graham and Doug Baldwin are on fire lately for the Seahawks. I don’t trust their running game, but Seattle seems to play up or down to its opponents, meaning a lot of passing and offensive in this matchup.
Upset Alert: Five Teams on Upset Alert in Week 11
Atlanta turned a corner last week, dominating the Dallas Cowboys. Julio Jones is a force and Devonta Freeman is putting up solid numbers as well. I also like tight end Austin Hooper, who has found the endzone in two of his last three games. Its a must win game for both teams, as playoff hopes hang in the balance. In prime time on Monday Night there is nothing better than Falcons-Seahawks for fantasy football in Week 11.
