2. Falcons still need to improve against mobile quarterbacks

I don’t know about you, but I gained a lot more respect for Russell Wilson on Monday Night Football. Not only did he give the Falcons defense all kinds of problems, but he almost led Seattle back from a 11-point deficit with a little under four minutes left in the game. That said, it’s clear that the Falcons defense is still struggling against mobile quarterbacks in 2017.

More from Atlanta Falcons

Atlanta gave up nearly 100 rushing yards to Cam Newton a few weeks ago and let Wilson run for 86 yards on seven carries in Week 11. If the Falcons want to make another run this postseason, they cannot allow a quarterback like Wilson to rush for an average of 11.4 yards per carry — that’s just ridiculous.

At the same time, we’re talking about this defense failing to contain two of the more elite quarterbacks in this league. Even though Atlanta has had some success against Wilson in the past, the Seahawks Super Bowl-winning quarterback ripped the Dirty Birds to shreds in CenturyLink Field on primetime.

Moving forward, the Falcons must figure out who’s responsible for spying the opposing quarterback. While I loved Vic Beasley’s effort, Wilson ran circles around him. Here’s to hoping this is the last time Atlanta will have to face the Seahawks offense again in the 2017 season.
