3. Dak Prescott, QB

It really seemed like for the entire first half (and possibly the past three games now) that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was operating under the belief that the first down marker was actually another out of bounds line. While the deep ball has never been his thing, his throws have become insanely short as of late, and he refused to throw anything past the sticks as if he could get benched for such a terrible move.

The result has been the worst stretch of his career, and while he may be trying to play it safe, it actually has led to him throwing more picks (five) in the past two games than he did all throughout his rookie year when he had just four.

What’s happening is Dak is throwing these dump offs, then after 45 minutes of punting the ball, Dallas starts heaving it deep in desperation. The opponents then (knowing the pass is coming) are zeroing in and taking the ball away — something that Cowboys defenders know absolutely nothing about.

His latest performance was beyond excusable as Prescott had just 179 yards on 27 pass attempts. While the talent on the team around him is grossly over-stated, there’s simply no excuse for a guy who is supposed to be a franchise player to put up such numbers. Now, this recent stretch doesn’t mean Prescott is a one-year wonder, but it does mean that he and the coaching staff need to make adjustments — which sadly is something this staff has never shown an ability to do.
