3. Paxton Lynch Is Not The Answer

We didn’t expect Paxton Lynch to be the next John Elway. However, he did prove that he doesn’t have what it takes to be the team’s starting quarterback. He completed nine of his 14 passes for 41 yards and one interception. Lynch struggled to connect with his receivers downfield and often looked lost.

The offensive line didn’t do much to help matters, allowing him to get sacked four times for a loss of 23 yards. He did managed to use his mobility to pick up 20 yards on the ground. His ability to pick up extra yards after the play breaks down is one of his biggest attributes.

Lynch might be the Broncos’ most recent first round bust. After being selected in the first round (26th overall) in the 2016 NFL Draft, Lynch has only passed for 538 yards and two touchdowns. He’s not developing quick enough and he might not ever develop into a functional starting quarterback. His skill set might be served best in the CFL.

If anything, we now know that he’s not the team’s future starting quarterback. It’s time to move on and search for the team’s new young quarterback prospect. They should have an early pick in the draft next year and might get an opportunity to select one of the top quarterback prospects in next year’s draft.
