2018 NFL Draft: Los Angeles Chargers 7-round mock draft in December
By Derek Snyder
Round 3: Sony Michel, RB, Georgia
Believe me, the Chargers drafting Sony Michel is not a slight against Melvin Gordon, the Georgia Bulldogs running back would actually be a fantastic addition to the Los Angeles rushing attack. As you may have already noticed, most successful teams in the NFL are relying on two solid backs to get the job done on the ground this season, which is why the Bolts need to follow that trend.
Now that the Chargers will be picking towards the middle of the third round, Michel will be there for the taking.
According to ESPN, Michel has rushed for 948 yards on 131 carries for 13 rushing touchdowns this year for Kirby Smart and the Dawgs. However, what’s even more impressive is that he’s currently averaging 7.2 yards per carry, a career-best for him at Georgia.
He’s not a guy that’s been exposed to catching the football on a normal basis, but I would imagine Ken Whisenhunt would change that awfully fast. Plus, Michel is getting some fantastic big-game experience in the Bulldogs SEC championship run in his final collegiate season. Let’s see how we responds on college football’s biggest stage in January.
