Fantasy Football 2017: Top 3 matchups to watch in Week 16
By Dan Salem
Don’t sleep on NFL Week 16 and instead finish your season like a champ. Your top 3 matchups to watch in Fantasy Football 2017 Week 16.
Each week during the NFL season, certain games stand out. These are not necessarily the games with the most on the line or with the most impact on the standings. Instead, they hold the most star power and fantasy football implications.
These are the games every fan needs to watch, from the die hard to the guy pressured into joining a fantasy league with work associates. This is the fantasy football 2017 game of the week for NFL Week 16.
Two brothers from New York, Dan Salem and Todd Salem, debate Fantasy Football 2017 in today’s NFL Sports Debate.
Fantasy Football 2017 Week 16
A number of the biggest matchups of last week lived up to the excitement hype, if not the fantasy output we were hoping for. But we also had some straight duds, like Los Angeles blowing the doors off of Seattle. Sure, all Rams owners were swapping champagne and Todd Gurley won some playoff matchups on his own, but the game was entirely one-sided. That’s not what we want.
Game of the Week
Todd Salem: Falcons at Saints has a similar level of intrigue and high stakes this week, but I’m worried about a potential one-sided affair. New Orleans at home, with revenge on its mind for Atlanta’s Week 14 win, with an NFC South division title on the line has all the makings. I also didn’t like what we saw Monday night when Jameis Winston far out-dueled Matt Ryan in the passing game despite both of his tight ends going down with injury.
Instead, my pick for fantasy game of the week involves Aaron Rodgers yet again, because I can’t quit him. He appeared a little rusty in Week 15, but that was to be expected. In a Saturday evening tilt against division-leading Minnesota, he and the Green Bay offense should be even better. With Minnesota rolling foes right now, this could be a legendary shootout with no defense in sight. Hopefully Davante Adams is back from concussion protocol. And hopefully Rodgers suits up, considering the Packers have been removed from the playoff conversation.

- Dallas Cowboys made the trade everyone else should have made
- Pittsburgh Steelers rookie sleeper everyone should be talking about
- Anthony Richardson putting jaw-dropping talent on display immediately
- Denver Broncos’ stud wide receiver might be out for a while
- Washington Commanders: Three takeaways from win over Ravens
That last point is key. Rodgers may move back to the bench for the remainder of the season. If so, this game becomes sadly unimportant and I’d be forced to turn back to Atlanta and New Orleans. It would be a nice consolation option for Week 16.
Dan Salem: I know we are picking the Fantasy Football 2017 game of the week, but what about the absolute worst fantasy game? That has to be Cleveland versus Chicago right? Its true the Browns running game has been fantasy relevant of late, but this matchup feels particularly awful. Neither team wants to win right now, because of draft positioning. None of the players want to risk injury, plus its Christmas. Maybe the backups will all play instead.
Seriously though, there are few games that truly appear great in week 16. You nailed two of them, but I’m willing to go double or nothing on the Seattle Seahawks this week. Seattle plays the Dallas Cowboys in Ezekiel Elliott‘s inglorious return from suspension. Dallas is playing coy, stating publicly that they are unsure how they’ll use Zeke on Sunday. What a load of garbage! The Cowboys are in the thick of a playoff chase, on the cusp just like the Seahawks. If they don’t use Elliott as much as physically possible, consider me dubious of the men in charge.

The Dallas defense is nothing like the Rams, so I’m fairly confident Seattle will find some serious offense this week. Both teams desperately need to win to keep their playoff hopes alive. Its now or never and I love the fantasy football 2017 implications of such pressure.
