Denver Broncos: 3 Takeaways vs. Chiefs in Week 17
By Bruce Matson
3. Paxton Lynch
Paxton Lynch didn’t look like a world beater but he didn’t look horrible either. This might have been the best game of his career. He completed 21 of his 31 pass attempts for 254 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. His ability to connect with his receiver downfield helped the team sustain drives and added an extra element that the team didn’t have during the season.

However, Lynch’s performance wasn’t enough to make him the team’s starting quarterback going into next season. He might have to fight for a roster spot in training camp let alone for the starting quarterback job.
The show isn’t over for Lynch, he can still develop into a decent quarterback. It’s still early in his career. He spent a fair portion of this season recovering from injuries which delayed some of his development. But, he needs to expedite his development if he wants to ever become a starting quarterback in the NFL.
He has enough talent to be a decent backup. Lynch does enough to sustain drives and keep the chains moving. His inconsistent play will keep him from being a full time starter, but his ability to run the offense can make him a very valuable backup, because it’s hard to find backup quarterbacks who can efficiently run an NFL offense.
