Buffalo Bills: 2018 Offseason predictions through the draft
Tyrod Taylor
The Bills are actually in a good place right now in terms of personnel. That’s because they only need a few piece to take the next step. All they really need to take the next step is an upgrade at quarterback, because, unfortunately, Tyrod Taylor isn’t the answer.
There may be some ancillary pieces that the Bills cut just to save money, but there’s really only one consequential cut of the 2018 offseason, Tyrod Taylor. Taylor isn’t a bad quarterback, he’s just limited, and those limits will hurt the Bills in the long-run.
Taylor is due a lot of money in 2018, just a shade over $18 million. He is not worth that cap hit or money. According to the site Spotrac, by cutting Taylor, the Bills will save $9.44 million and move their cap number to $42,310,937 for 2018.
They won’t use it in the free agency quarterback swoon though. It will be used to add depth at certain positions and maintain their own free agents. They also need enough cap space to sign their draft picks. So cutting Taylor ends up being an essential move in 2018, and it’s an unfortunate part of the salary cap era of the NFL.
