2. Sam Bradford

The Jets should avoid Bradford like the plague. Two seasons in recent memory should haunt Jets fans and be a constant reminder of what can happen when a season is derailed by injury at the most important position in the NFL, 1999 and 2008.

More from New York Jets

In 1999, the Jets were coming off a run to the AFC Championship Game, and hopes were riding high. The Jets were actually Super Bowl contenders for the first time in a long time. Then, Vinny Testaverde ruptured his Achilles tendon, and those hopes were completely dashed. Then the Jets traded for Brett Favre, who played through an injury he suffered during the season and hopes for a Super Bowl run were yet again dashed.

Bradford missed six games in his second season, nine games in 2013 and missed 14 games in 2017. Bradford lacks the most important ability in the NFL for all players, availability, and it’s due to his health. He has the talent to lead a team to the Super Bowl, but he’s hurt way too much, and not worth the money he’s going to command.

If he didn’t have durability concerns, he probably wouldn’t be hitting the free agent market. So, the Jets need to avoid Sam Bradford in 2018.
