Equanimeous St. Brown, WR, Notre Dame

This draft should be about improving the offense as much as possible, especially with an offensive minded head coach. At wide receiver, the Colts have a speedster in TY Hilton who needs another guy to really free him up from double teams. One of the bright stars on the offense was Jack Doyle. Doyle finished third in catches among NFL tight ends and sixth in yards.

But outside of Doyle and Hilton, the Colts don’t have much to look forward to. Former third-round pick Donte Moncrief is a free agent, and there’s a chance he won’t be back. Whether it’s Brissett or Luck, the lack of weapons on the outside can hinder any quarterback.

Equanimeous St. Brown is a huge target at 6-5 and has a decent frame weighing in over 200 pounds. There’s a lot to like about a guy who is an immediate redzone target because of his leaping ability, but it doesn’t stop there.

According to NFL.com draft expert Daniel Jeremiah, St. Brown is a great route runner thanks to his amazing quickness. He also has the ability to separate at the top of routes especially downfield. While his production fell off from his sophomore season where he caught 58 balls for 9tds to 33 and 5 this past season. However, that can easily be explained according to Jeremiah.

"“After watching all of his targets from the 2017 season, the drop-off in production is easily explained. Yes, he has a couple drops, but the lack of accuracy at the quarterback position was the main reason for his disappointing numbers. He consistently created separation down the field, only to see the ball fly out of reach.”"

St. Brown is the ideal receiver to line up outside along the boundary and really help the quarterback. If the Colts re-sign Moncreif then they’ll have a solid pecking order and reliable guys who would give their offense a major boost and open up the running game.
