Round 1: Marcus Davenport, EDGE, Texas-San Antonio

The Oakland Raiders have the luxury of being able to line up one of the better defensive ends in all of football. Khalil Mack was their first-round pick in 2014, the same season they selected Derek Carr, and he has developed into a phenomenal player.

More from NFL Spin Zone

Mack won the 2016 NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award and gets a ton of praise for his ability to alter game plans with his edge rushing. What sets him apart though is how well-rounded he is as Mack is just as dominate against the run as he is the pass.

Problem is, their defensive line is too reliant on him. While Mario Edwards, Jr. has shown some flashes, they can surely use an upgrade. That’s where Marcus Davenport of Texas-San Antonio comes in.

Davenport may have played at a small school, but he’s got huge NFL talent and has been flying up draft boards lately. He’s listed at 6-6 and 255 pounds and showed that he can use that length to his advantage during some good work at the recent Senior Bowl.

While he won’t come in and be a 10-plus sack guys as a rookie, he does help Oakland tremendously as some of the pass rushing responsibility can finally be shared. That will serve to only make Mack and the entire defense better.
