Kurt Warner, Tom Brady, Ben Roethlisberger, Russell Wilson, Carson Wentz, and the Super Bowl LI MVP Nick Foles are all examples of quarterbacks who were signed or drafted the year of or before their teams won the Super Bowl in recent vintage. Eli Manning, Drew Brees, Joe Flacco and Peyton Manning all were the initial building blocks of a team, and it took all of them years before even playing in the Super Bowl, let alone winning one.

So, if it’s going to take years to get to a Super Bowl level, why start with the quarterback?

Football is and always will be won in the trenches. A team must get after the opposing quarterback and protect their own in order to win. That’s why the perfect building block is either on the offensive or defensive line. Enter Quenton Nelson.

Nelson isn’t only the best guard in the draft, but he’s also the best offensive lineman in the draft. Nelson can bring stability to the interior of the Giants offensive line, and he can help out Erick Flowers when necessary.

Nelson has the strength and size that is perfect for left guard in the league. He’s also pro ready, which is a plus, given the limited practice time in today’s NFL.
