Baltimore Ravens: Sign WR Paul Richardson

Wide receiver stands out as an obvious need for the Baltimore Ravens. Their group of receivers simply did not get the job done in 2017 and they need to look to add multiple talented pieces to the mix this offseason. The Ravens should be looking at receivers in both NFL free agency and in the draft.

If Baltimore expects to get back into Super Bowl contention, they are going to have to find playmaking wide receivers who make sense for Joe Flacco. In this free agent market, Paul Richardson stands out as an obvious fit.

Standing only 6-0, 183 pounds, Richardson does not have ideal size for the wide receiver position. That being said, this guy has speed for days.

Richardson burst onto the scene with the Seattle Seahawks last season, finishing the year with 44 receptions for 703 yards and six touchdowns. He was able to stretch the field with consistency for Seattle last season, showing fantastic big play ability. Richardson is also an extremely quick route runner who can lose cornerbacks in man coverage and make plays after the catch.

Richardson’s big play ability is legit, but he does struggle at times with drops, which is obviously a concern. However, if he can continue to be a big play machine, the Ravens could stomach a drop pass here and there.

There are plenty of wide receivers on the open market who would make sense in Baltimore, but Richardson stands out as the most exciting target. Ozzie Newsome and company should make him a priority early in NFL free agency.
