I wouldn’t call wide receiver a major position of need for the Houston Texans. That being said, this late in the draft, teams are just looking for specific players who they believe in, regardless of position. Daurice Fountain stood out as a strong value choice for the Texans with their other compensatory pick in this mock draft.

Fountain is an explosive playmaker at the wide receiver position, showing big-time speed in the deep passing game. Fountain also shows great quickness and agility which allows him to make defenders miss in short spaces. His run after catch ability is awfully impressive.

For a late-round selection, Fountain has a great chance to come in and make an impact. You simply cannot teach this kind of speed and quickness. If nothing else, he could quickly become a fantastic weapon as a return specialist.

7. player. 10. . CB. Murray State. D'Montre Wade

D’Montre Wade is an extremely talented cornerback prospect who was a strong contributor in college. Unfortunately, his big-time production came against a lower-level of competition, making his transition to the NFL a bit of an unknown.

That being said, Wade is a strong cornerback prospect who shows impressive overall speed and athleticism on the outside. He is extremely natural in coverage, showing a fantastic overall skill set as a zone defender. Wade reads the quarterback well and shows solid ball skills.

The Texans have obvious needs in the defensive backfield. While a seventh-round selection cannot be expected to be a major difference-maker, Wade is a talented player who has a chance to make an impact.
