3. Sammy Watkins

Sammy Watkins would be a welcomed addition to the Jaguars receiving corps. Watkins was selected by Buffalo as the fourth overall selection in the 2014 draft. In fact, he was selected after Jacksonville took Blake Bortles at No. 3.

Watkins is 6-1, weighing 211 pounds. He has caught 192 passes for 3052 yards with 25 touchdowns and averages 15.9 yards per reception in his career. Most of all,  he is a speedster.

Watkins ran a 4.43-second 40 yard dash at the 2014 NFL Combine. His speed should allow the Jaguars to stretch the field vertically. Since he would draw safety help in coverage, the middle of the field would be open for Lee to work.

Spotrac.com assessed Watkins’ market valve for the 2018 free agent receiver class. They calculated that Watkins should expect a five-year deal worth $17.99 million. He would stand to earn around $5.99 million per year.

Remember, the Los Angeles Rams did not elect to use the franchise tag on him. The franchise tag for wide receivers for the 2018 season is $15.9 million according to CBSSports.com. Even at $10 million for three years, he would be worth the investment.

If the Jaguars and Robinson should agree upon a new contract. Jacksonville should still pursue Watkins. Robinson, Watkins and Hurns would give Bortles very good targets.
