Team needs

The 2018 offseason is a transitional period for the Giants. The need to rebuild. For them it starts up front on offense and in the middle of their defense, and they also need a running back.

The Giants offensive line is terrible. (Unfortunately, I can’t come up with a better word to describe them that’s printable in this forum.) That leads to a suspect running game, and they need to start rebuilding their linebacker core.

They may lose Shane Vereen and Orleans Darkwa to free agency. They will also, undoubtedly lose outside linebacker depth as they could potentially lose five players, but they’re switching to a 3-4, and we’ll see where that goes.

The Giants have plenty of needs and may not even be able to re-sign their own players to fill those needs. It’s a giant (no pun intended) chasm that Gettleman will have a fun time filling. He has he work cut out for him this offseason, as he takes on the new job. This offseason will tell the tale of whether the Giants are on another run to the Super Bowl, or many years of misery. They need a big jump start in 2018 on that road.
