3. Shea Patterson, QB, Michigan

Many people are giving Josh Allen the excuse of poor talent around him for his poor numbers. He played in the Mountain West Conference, and if he was good, it would have showed up like it did for Patterson.

Patterson played in the SEC, against some of the toughest defenses in the nation. Despite having the talent that Ole Miss did. Patterson completed nearly 64 percent of his passes, with 8.7 yards per attempt, and nearly a 2-1 touchdown to interception ratio.

Patterson has since transferred to Michigan and, under the tutelage of Jim Harbaugh, should see some marked improvement in his game. He will also have much better talent around him. So, even against the tough defense in the Big 10, he shouldn’t fall off the table.

Working with Harbaugh gives him an advantage over other quarterbacks in the 2019 NFL Draft. He’ll be going to a system that’s better suited for the NFL transition. Patterson has the tools to be an NFL quarterback, and with the talent around him at Michigan, he’ll be able to show off those tools better than he could in Oxford, MS. Say what you will about this class, but with his talent, he’s worth awaiting for if the Jets see a top-flight defensive player available at no. 6.
