Jacksonville Jaguars: 5 First-round targets in 2018 NFL Draft
3. Hayden Hurst, TE, South Carolina
Current Jaguars tight end Marcedes Lewis will be 34 years old once the 2018 season rolls around. Lewis was selected in the first round of the 2007 draft. Though Lewis never really fulfilled his role as a pass-catcher, he was one of, if not the best run blocking tight end in the game of football.
The Jaguars signed Austin Seferian-Jenkins in free agency along with H-back Niles Paul. However, the Jaguars could use more upside at the position.
Tony Pauline of DraftAnalyst.com writes (via 247Sports) that:
"The big tight end is not a blazer but has enough speed to stretch the seam and possesses the size and strength to be a blocking asset at the next level."
Hurst could hopefully duplicate Lewis’ run-blocking skills and create more mismatches with his size (6-5), speed and athleticism.
2. Will Hernandez, OG, UTEP
The blockbuster signing of offensive guard Andrew Norwell give the Jaguars one of the best young offensive lines in football. The Jaguars will play hard-nosed football in 2018 and could continue to build the offensive line by drafting guard Will Hernandez in the first round. Hernandez is a mauler and close to a sure thing in the NFL according to Alex Kirshner of SB Nation.
Hernandez was a four year starter at UTEP and excels at run-blocking. The Jaguars could sure upgrade the other guard spot with the departure of Patrick Omameh to the Giants and Alex Cann not solidifying himself as a starter.
Going into 2018 the Jaguars offensive line could be Cam Robinson, Andrew Norwell, Brandon Linder, Will Hernandez and Jermey Parnell. Leonard Fournette could go for 2,000 yards behind that line.
