Between C.J. Anderson, De’Angelo Henderson and Devontae Booker, the Denver Broncos have a decent mix of talent at the running back position. Anderson can still be a productive runner, but he is an aging back whose best days are behind him. Henderson shows a lot of promise, but he is pretty much completely unproven, while Booker has never lived up to his obvious talent.

The Broncos would probably be fine going into next season with their current mix at the position, but they would still be wise to look for running back value in the 2018 NFL Draft. They find that value in the third round of this mock draft by selecting Rashaad Penny out of San Diego State.

Penny was an extremely productive college running back who piled up an impressive 2,248 yards and 23 touchdowns on 289 carries (7.8 yards per carry average) during the 2017 season. He did not exactly produce against the highest level of competition, but Penny has an interesting skill set that should translate well to the next level.

He is a quick and decisive runner who shows impressive patience and some real power. Penny always seems to find open space in the defense and gets there quickly. Opposing defenders also have to bring their A game at the point of attack, as Penny will knock away arm tacklers with ease.

Simply put, Penny is a talented running back who should be able to come in and make an immediate impact at the next level. The Broncos could bring him in and make Penny the new focus of their rushing attack, answering any questions that they have at the running back position.
