New Orleans Saints: Ranking the team’s top 2018 offseason additions
4. Patrick Robinson, CB (from Philadelphia Eagles)
It is safe to say that this former first-round draft choice has bounced around the league since entering the NFL as the 32nd overall selection in 2010. Yes, that’s the year after the New Orleans Saints captured Super Bowl XLIV and wound up with the final pick in the first round.
Interesting enough, Robinson returns to the Big Easy after actually being a part of an NFL championship team with the Philadelphia Eagles. The eight-year pro has become somewhat of a journeyman as of late. Rejoining the Saints means that Robinson will be playing for his fourth different organization in as many years.
After five seasons in New Orleans, he joined the then-San Diego Chargers in 2015, signed with the Indianapolis Colts a year later and was a member of the Super Bowl champion Eagles this past year. With the Birds, he finished with 45 tackles, one sack and led the team in interceptions (4) and passes defensed (18). He also turned a Case Keenum interception into six points in the NFC title game win over the Minnesota Vikings.
All told, Robinson adds depth to a secondary that certainly came a long way from recent seasons. The Saints finished 15th in the NFL against the pass in 2017 after ranking dead last in the league in this category the previous season.
