How the Giants Would Benefit

The Browns have maneuvered around the draft board so much over the last two seasons that they have acquired a multitude draft depth. They have a total of 12 picks in the 2018 NFL Draft, with eight being in the first four rounds, including two first-round picks inside the top five. With so much ammo, the Browns and Giants can come out winners, and here’s how.

Cleveland should send the No. 4 overall pick, No. 65 pick, No. 138 and Corey Coleman to New York. To put the value of these assists in perspective we’ll have to look at Pro Football Talk’s draft pick value chart. According to the chart, the fourth, 65th, and 130th picks are worth 2.002 points, which is more than the Bills who the 12th and 22nd (1,980) overall picks.

The Giants would then be able to get two top-five players, including a quarterback, with the Nos. 2 and 4 overall picks. They could take Josh Rosen, Sam Darnold or Josh Allen at No. 2. Then they’ll have their pick of the litter with the fourth overall pick including the possibility of trading down with a team like the Bills who are “trying like hell” to move up in order to select a quarterback, according to Bleacher Report:

"“Brandon is trying like hell to get up and get a quarterback,” a general manager told Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports. “I’m convinced he’ll trade up twice more if he has to. It reminds me of (Eagles general manager) Howie (Roseman) a few years ago (when he was moving up to land Carson Wentz).”"

Moreover, throwing in Coleman gives the Giants a receiver who by no means is Odell Beckham Jr., but has traits that translate to new head coach Pat Shurmur’s offensive scheme. Coleman has the speed, quickness and quality hands that would make him a dangerous deep threat. Injuries and an atrocious quarterback play have resulted in him not yet reaching his full potential.

Still, at only 23 with amazing speed and quickness, there’s a lot of promise with Coleman paired with Sterling Shepard and Evan Engram. That trio would give Eli Manning explosive weapons. As far as the rest of the draft, the Giants can add the necessary pieces on defense to help them transition to the 3-4 and improving their running game with one of the rookie running backs. No matter what trading Beckham, for those picks and Coleman can lead to an even more lucrative payoff.
